Not crazy about crossbars sticking out 7 inches beyond the tire

Can I remove the crossbar endcaps cut the bars down and reinstall the endcaps? Or is removing the caps destructive? I assume they are that long to accommodate kayaks etc but I only need them for a rooftop tent.

Hello! You are correct, the crossbars are 79" wide for carrying boats and bikes, but that distance still leaves you with 6ft to be within road limits. Yes, you can remove the end caps and cut down the crossbars to be shorter. Please check with our team directly for exact measurements before cutting the crossbar down.
